Equipment Required for a Recording
session
Here is selection of the equipment we will
be using for our recording session
This mic is an AKG S1000 Dynamic microphone;
it is used for a variety of reasons from vocals to overhead on drums this mic requires Phantom power which is turned on from the desk or from a battery also DI boxes ate used in the studio for a balanced input and they also need to be phantom powered
This is a AKG micro mic and it is used for
close miking on snares and toms
It is a dynamic mic and is designed to
record loud noises without distorting
This is a Rode NT2 condenser used for
vocals its quite sensitive not a bad mic at all
This is a Shure
SM58 dynamic microphone used mainly for live performances but can be quite good
for recording in the studio
This is an AKG SA40 dynamic microphone used
mainly for kick drums it is also
quite good for recording bass guitar frequencies
Here is picture of a person preparing a
condenser mic in an acoustically treated room. The room is treated with
acoustic foam that stops any reverb which allows you to add your own effects to
a clean sounding recording

This is a multicore and it is used for
separating individual instruments and sending them to their own channel on the mixing desk . it is used in a live situation or a recording session

used for listening to sound and recording sound into a CPU
also we use this to send a level back to musicians to monitor their sound when they are playing, it has 8 analog inputs and 8 output also it has 8 digital ins and outs so you can have 16 individual signals going in and out of the computer at the same time

This was very good Kai and you demonstrated a good understanding immediately when it came to setting up the mic stand, also you have a very good grasp on your work But you need to stay focused as you also have a big influence on the class and this can become a disruption...
